How to Fix Slow Expansions in Chrome

Several things might be causing the issue that you’re experiencing. Let’s run through some of the most common causes.

  • Please double-check that you meet TextExpander’s system requirements, as shown at the bottom of our download page: https://textexpander.com/download.
  • Do you have enough space on your hard drive and available RAM usage? If not, deleting unneeded files and ending unused processes may help.

If neither of those seems to be the root issue, let’s try a clean install. A clean install removes all cached files that a standard reinstall process might leave behind. It also ensures that TextExpander is installed correctly.

Please follow the steps for the Chrome extension below.

  1. Go to https://txpdr.us/techrome.
  2. Click on ‘Remove from Chrome’ and confirm.
  3. Then click ‘Add to Chrome’ and sign in.
  4. After you’ve signed back in, try reloading the page you’re working in.

Using Delimiters

Please note that if you use delimiters, no expansion occurs until you press a delimiter key. The delimiter key is what indicates you want the abbreviation to expand.

Some users prefer not to use a delimiter because it feels faster and more seamless.
