How To Make TextExpander Run Invisibly In The Background On Mac

  1. In TextExpander, choose Profile > Preferences > Appearance, and check the option for “Hide TextExpander icon in Dock.” The TextExpander icon will no longer take up Dock space, but a small TextExpander icon can appear in the menu bar, should you need it.
  2. There are a variety of shortcuts you can set in Preferences > Hotkey to quickly perform actions without clicking on the menu bar item. If you do not show TextExpander in the menu bar, we highly recommend adding a Hotkey for “Open TextExpander” to have some way to access TextExpander.

Note: With the update to macOS 13 Ventura, the ability to hide windows when logging in to your computer has been removed causing the TextExpander Window to stay open. This affects not only TextExpander but also many other applications used on Macs running Ventura.
