Who can see your Snippets and account data in a Closed TextExpander Organization?
There’s an important detail in our Terms & Conditions that we want to make sure you’re aware of:
If you’re part of a Closed* TextExpander Organization, your organization admins can see the Snippets you create (“Just Me” Snippets), even if you haven’t shared them with anyone else.
This has always been the case and is part of how Closed TextExpander Organizations are designed to work. We’re highlighting it here for added clarity and transparency.
Here’s what you need to know
If you’re part of a Closed TextExpander Organization, your organization owns and can see all data, including:
- Snippets you create, whether or not they’re shared with others
- Content you post, upload, or share in TextExpander
- Messages sent, data files, and Metadata
- Work-related profile details like your work phone number or office location
When you join a Closed TextExpander Organization and accept the Terms and Conditions, you’re agreeing that the Snippets and content you create belong to your organization. This helps your organization manage and maintain content more easily, and ensures Snippets aren’t lost if a team member leaves.
*All TextExpander Organizations created after June 13, 2019 are Closed by default. Prior to June 13, 2019, unless they required SSO, all Organizations were Open. Learn more about what it means to have an Open vs. Closed Organization here. If you are unsure of your Organization type, contact your account admin or our Support team.
