Troubleshooting Issues with the Clipboard
Common Clipboard Issues:
- When typing in an Abbreviation, the text that is inserted is what was previously on the clipboard instead of the contents of the Snippet.
- When expanding a Snippet, only part of the Snippet is expanding, or a portion of the Abbreviation itself is staying behind.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Windows
Paste Timeout
- Start by increasing the paste timeout in Preferences to the largest value possible.
- Go to File>Preferences>Expansion and drag the slider for Paste Timeout as far to the right as it will go.
- Test expansion to see if that corrects the issue.
Note: This should not result in slower expansions, but will allow TextExpander a little bit more time to process your Snippet expansion if it runs into trouble.
Disable Clipboard
- Disable clipboard restoration by going to Preferences>Expansion.
- Uncheck the box next to “Restore Clipboard.”
Note: Disabling the clipboard will make it to where anything you copied previously will be replaced by the Snippet contents after expansion.
Mac
