What Happens When Your TextExpander Trial Ends

When your TextExpander trial ends, your account moves to the Free plan unless you or your account admin start a paid subscription.

Your Snippets, Snippets Groups, members, and settings all stay in your account. What changes is which features and Snippets can expand on the Free plan.

Your Snippets stay in your library

All of your Snippets remain saved when your trial ends. TextExpander keeps them in your library. On Free, you can save as many Snippets as you want, and 5 Snippets can be active at a time. Active Snippets are the Snippets that expand when you type their abbreviation.

Your 5 active Snippets

After your trial ends, the next Snippets you use become your 5 active Snippets. Any other Snippets stay saved in your library, ready to expand once they become active. If you try to expand a saved Snippet and you have a swap available, TextExpander can activate that Snippet for you. On the Free plan, you get 1 swap every 2 weeks.

Snippets with paid-only features

All Snippets you created during your trial, even if they contain paid-only features, remain in your library. Snippets that use paid-only features, such as date math, time math, nested Snippets, JavaScript, AppleScript, shell scripts, or conditional Fill-ins, expand on Free once you remove the paid-only feature or upgrade to a paid plan.

If you’re on a team

If your team’s trial ends and an admin doesn’t start a paid subscription, up to 5 total members (the admin plus 4 members) can continue to use TextExpander on the Free plan. On Free:

• Each team member gets their own 5 active Snippets.
• Each team member gets their own swap every 2 weeks.
• Active Snippets are personal, not shared across the team.
• Only admins can change the plan.
• There is a 5 member limit for the account.

If you want to keep trial features

To keep unlimited active Snippets and paid-only Snippet features, upgrade to Pro, Business, or Enterprise before or after your trial ends.

• Pro gives you unlimited active Snippets and advanced Snippet features for up to 5 people.
• Business adds unlimited team members and more collaboration features to keep your team consistent.
• Enterprise adds advanced security, admin controls, and support.
