What happens to my Snippets when my trial ends?

You keep all of them. When your trial ends, you move to the Free plan if you don’t select a paid plan, and your Snippets stay in your library. The next Snippets you use become your 5 active Snippets, and the rest move to saved. You will have 1 swap every 2 weeks to change out an active Snippet for a saved one. A Snippet that uses a paid-only feature won’t expand on Free until you remove that feature or upgrade to a paid plan. To use everything you had during the trial without limits, upgrade to a paid plan.

Why didn’t my Snippet expand?

There are 3 common reasons on the Free plan:

• The Snippet isn’t active. Only your 5 active Snippets expand. See How active Snippets work.
• You’ve used your swap. Once you’ve used your 1 swap for the current 2-week period, saved Snippets expand again when your next swap unlocks. See How swaps work.
• The Snippet uses a paid-only feature. Snippets with date math, time math, nested Snippets, JavaScript, AppleScript, shell scripts, conditional Fill-ins, or other paid features expand on Free once you remove the paid-only element or upgrade.

If none of these apply, check that you’re signed in and that your TextExpander app is up to date.

Can I choose which Snippet to swap out?

TextExpander swaps out the Snippet you’ve used least recently, which keeps the Snippets you use most often active without making you manage the list. The Snippet that’s leaving always appears in the swap confirmation, so you can cancel if it isn’t what you expected.

What if my team needs more than 5 active Snippets per person?

The 5-Snippet limit is per team member, not per team. If most members need more, upgrade your team to Pro or Business for unlimited active Snippets, or Enterprise for the most advanced features. Only admins can change the plan. Compare plans.

Can my team downgrade to the Free plan?

If you’re an admin, you can change your team’s plan. When a team is on Free:

• The Free plan applies to the whole team.
• Limits are per team member, so each person gets 5 active Snippets and their own swap cadence.
• Only admins can change the plan.

Does TextExpander delete my saved Snippets?

No. Saved Snippets stay in your library, even if you never expand them. The only difference between active and saved is whether the Snippet expands when you type the abbreviation.
